SocketTester v1.2 is used by developers of server/client applications to test and "debugg" socket connections. SocketTester offers the possibility to emulate protocol commands in text and binary mode.
For example SocketTester can be used to test a server even if a client isn't yet developed. This saves time and money...
(
Socket]|[Tester v1.2 - Development tool for network / web applications)

The Socket Tester is used to test socket connections from the CLIENT. Because of this, the Socket Tester can send and receive commands in textual and binary mode if a successful connection to a server is established. All incoming data can also be viewed in both modes. For example, if you select an area in the text view and then change into Hex-mode, you can see what the exact equivalent in the hexadecimal code is. This function is useful for developers when searching for errors that can occur in data transmission.
The Socket Tester gives you the possibility to save socket connection data in the so called connection templates. Commands that are used and needed very often can also be saved as command templates. To end a command properly you have the possibility to define an end-character. This end-character can then be activated by pressing Enter. All incoming data is saved in a logfile with the name "lastlog.txt" as long as the socket connection is active. If you need this file you should save it in a new directory before opening a new connection or else it will be overwritten by the data of the new connection.
The Socket Tester is especially interesting for developers of Socket Servers which use protocols like HTTP, SMTP, POP, ICQ, or FLASH. The Socket Tester is also a very practical tool for developers of new protocols. If you need a SocksProxy for your connection you can set this up in the config file.
A Practical example for the use of the SocketTester: You tried to connect to a server and you have received the message "connection failed". This does not necessarily make it easier to look for the error. This is because the message "connection failed" does not give you an exact idea of were the problem really is. But now with the Socket Tester you have the possibility to look at all incoming data, not just the data the browser sends you. Now you can find a solution for the problem in less time.
